Ron Smith is a leading management consultant with over 40 years experience in the hvac contracting business.  An entrepreneur of the first order, he founded Modern Air Conditioning, Inc. in Ft. Myers, Florida in 1965 with $500 in borrowed money and built it into one of the industry’s premier companies with $15 million in annual revenues by 1986 ($40 million in today’s HVAC dollars), when he sold the company.  He subsequently purchased and grew three similar air conditioning companies in the Louisiana and Florida markets.  His success and ability to manage and grow businesses led to a career that shares the knowledge and expertise he acquired with thousands of hvac contractors over a diversified and successful career.

Among Ron Smith’s accomplishments:

  • Founded Service America, the first national HVAC franchiser, which grew to over 100 franchisees in less than four years.
  • Founded Ron Smith & Associates in 1991, an HVAC training and consulting company that focused on operations, systems, processes, and disciplines and became one of the industry’s leading training and consulting firms.  The company’s Dominant Market Share training program was presented to over 70 distributor groups and over 1,700 hvac contractors.
  • Chief Operating Officer of Service Experts, Brentwood, TN, an HVAC consolidator and public company.
  • Founded, owned, had or has an ownership position in 15 businesses.
  • Served 11 years on the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board.
  • Florida Governor’s Conference on Small Business
  • Graduate of Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Program, Managing Organizational Effectiveness.
  • Editorial Advisory Board of HVACR Business Magazine
